Die Cut Storage

Well I dont have this many dies.... or do I???.... MMWUUAHHH! just jokes. But this has got to be a much better idea than having them all tossed into a box which is my current method of organisation and surprisingly isnt working LOL. I just like the fact that you can flick through and see all the sets. Maybe over the hols I might be able to organise this way :)
I must get onto doing some more videos myself. Unfortunately I am unwell and trying not to talk too much in order to get better.. sore throats a killer... :)

Stampin Up How To- Christmas Card & Autumn Leaves

Yep! Christmas! I know its early but by the way this year is passing by it will be hear again in no time. Here is a cute card from Stampin up :)

I also love to visit this site. Originally I would have probably passed on the leaves diecuts but it is amazing how seeing a technique used can change your opinion. These look great! I also have some Tim Holtz Bigz Leaves which could do with the same texturing.

Hint for Clear Cling Stamps

So excited went and collected my new cricut!!! and have been cutting up a treat LOL so will have to charge up the video camera and get into some more how to videos :)

I have to say I am a fan of Stampin ups clear stamps. I find them so much easier to store and use but from time to time I do have trouble with the smaller ones staying on the acrylic block. I found this utube clip and plan on givig it a try but if you have any ideas I would love to hear them :)

Sharing Some Cards

Just have to start off by saying a big thankyou to Overstock.com where I purchased my Cricut. They have sent an email telling me that they are going to refund my money. Fantastic News!! I now have a little more "bob"to put on my layby of the Cricut 2 at the local scrap shp at Claremont Woo Hoo!!!

Made a few cards this weekend and thought its about time I shared LOL.
For this one I used a cloud embossing folder and then wiped my white pigment ink pad over it to make the clouds white. I then used the back of the plane and the label and stamp from my new dienamics aeroplane set followed by some glue and glitter.

I was really happy with the next one. I found some really pretty Kaisercraft papers and used my Very Vintage Stampin around wheel across the front twice to leave a spot for my stamped sentiment. Wrapped some ribbon and cut a few banners that I glossy accented to the front with some linen thread. I found a few little flowers and pearls in the stash that I added to the banners. The Stamp is from the hostess set - Perfect Words.

Trying a few things out for the people at Provo Craft about the Cricut. In the meantime here is a Video How To I managed before the dramas :)

I made this really cute card using the Wild Card Cartridge. The cartridge allows you to cut the cards, envelopes and liners as well as many different phrases and icons that can be used in assembly. Here is a picture of the finished card. I used stampin up stamps, inks and markers as well :)

This is the Cricut Cartridge that I absolutely LOVE :)

Making small Roses

Another incredibly busy week and I am really looking forward to this coming weekend as I am attending a CM mega party and get to crop and create for a few hours this Saturday!! Its also good to see what other wonderful products there are to play with out there.

My tip for this week is a simple one for all the scrapbookers out there! BACKUP! Yes thats right time to save a copy of all those memorable moments onto disk or the good old brick. I had a heart stopping moment the other night when I started up my main computer and it flashed blank for ages and didnt look like i was going to start up properly. Talk about panic! so I am in the process of save save save and if you havent done it for a while now is the time.

I didnt add a sketch Wednesday but would like to draw your attention to many of the fantastic online challenge sites around that you can take part in. My favourites at the moment are Just add Ink, Freshly Made Sketches and  Friday Mashup. They are all great sites and its lovely to see how welcoming the site members are as they leave lovely comments on your cards!

And finally another freat find on the internet and guess what??? yep its all about flowers LOL

296: Product Review

It has been a huge week!! I had to take time otherwise spent on the blog and invest it into my job. I never said bloggin daily was going to be easy LOL but I am here now! A shocking thing happened after a workshop yesterday! My friggin Big Shot handle snapped off!! It was bent after a good workout at work when some of the kiddies tried to sandwich something incorrectly and had been fine of late then started making this terrible sound before TWAANNG!!! Have been in contact with the company to see if I can purchase the said part that buckled under pressure so fingers crossed. I had gotten to the point where I had been using it every time I scrapped. Has anyone else had this happen? I was a bit lost today when I sat down to make some cards :(

I have been getting into using the punches as well. I am growing fonder of punched pieces. It the past I felt that punch art was really daggy but with all of the great punch styles coming out its looking much more classy. With Easter around the corner I felt it would be a great time to share a clip from one of my favourite utube channels. I plan on mashing this up with the kids at work so that the Big EB has somewhere to put the eggs !! :)

Saturday 3 March 2012

Inking and embossing

I have a few crafters workshop stencils aboutt he place but you could also use and of the "reliefs"left over after you have sent a cartridge through your bigshot to create you own original look. I am going to attempt the inking technique for my scrapbook page this week.

320: Whats on the Web

There is a buzz felt in the USA that I wish was felt the same way here. Maybe its just because I am not on the mainland but I kinda get the feeling that scrapbooking and stamping doesnt have the same enthusiasm as it did a decade ago. I used to frequent the papercraft and craft and quilt shows which were so much fun and I am definately flying over to Melbourne this year for one.. maybe two of them this year (hopefully coinciding with AFL so I can drag an unsuspecting husband along with me LOL) I do love being a demonstrator for such a great company and I equally enjoy the enthusiasm of the girls out at Image Plus at Claremont who have the greatest scrap shop EVER!

So when it comes time to see whats new I stalk the old You Tube to see updates of the Craft Hobby Association shows that occur in Summer and Winter in the states.

The best site this year for viewing was at paperclipping4u so if you are after some previewed fun this it the go to place. I also posted my favourite vid :)

322: Tuesday Tip

Spritz sprays produce a shimmer when sprayed onto cardstock and paper items.
There are many manufacturers of these products. Stampin up produce 4 available in the catalogue but what if I were to tell you that you could produce your own in any of the Stampin up colours to easily match any of your creations!! Well you can!! I got this awesome fact from frenchiestamps.com

All you need is the stampin up reinker of choice, some Stampin up Frost White shimmer paint 116854 alchohol solution and an empty mister. Pour alchohol solution into the mister add three drops of shimmer paint, three of reinker and attached the lid. Give it a great shake to make sure that all the solution has blended together and WALA!! Tailor made Stampin up smooch spritz!!!

329: Tuesday Tip

Wood mounted or acrylic there are some simple things to remember when looking after your stamps.

Always make sure to clean your rubber stamps before storing away

Use a rubber stamp cleaner to clean your stamps. I always use  Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin’ Scrub and Mist. The stamp scrub is great it has a wet and dry side. You spray mist onto the wet for a clean and then rub on the dry for a final clean. Works an absolute treat.

Dont have a scrub and mist. A damp cloth will work as well. Many of my friends also use baby wipes.

Store your stamps in the stampin up boxes that they have come in or store them flat in draws or plastic boxes. Standing on a shelf is great too! you will be able to see your favourite stamps easily.

Ensure your stamps are kept clear of hot and cold extremes. Room Temperature is best.

330: Product Review

I have to admit when I first saw the stocking punch I thought "how much use would I get out of a christmas stocking punch" well wasnt I just a little stamping naive LOL! I did a little searching and will never look at my punch the same way again. Everything from baby booties, hobby horses, baby tops and football socks. I have a special project to share with you later in the week using this punch set but in the meantime did a little search and came up with a collage of images to get your creative juices flowing in the meantime.
Just a little reminder too... this punch will only be available through the summer mini and not brought into the main catalogue so if you want to get your hands on this little baby you will need to act fast :)

I used my tansparent flowers to frame up the photo in this layout. This is my little nephew a cheeky little monkey would love to know what thought was crossing his mind in this one LOL.

Friday 3 February 2012

Acetate Flowers

Todays technique is using stamped acetate to make an embellishment. You will need to use versamark ink to ensure a strong and lasting image. The stamp set I have used is the Stampin Up Baroque Motifs Set. I stamped a selection of the images straight onto a piece of acetate that I saved from some packaging.

I then took my five petal punch and punched the shapes from the acetate piece. The fact that the two shapes contrast only provides more of a unique effect.

Finally I attached a button to the centre of each acetate flower. This is a really simple technique that anybody can try and tomorrow I will post a layout where I have used this little embellishments. Hope you have fun giving this technique a try :)

336: Tuesday Tip

How should you store you classic ink pads?
I always heard to store any ink pad upside down so that the ink is always ready on the surface BUT... did you know that the classic Stampin Ink Pads were designed so that the pad was upside down when closed? So they should be stored with this label facing up.

Now this only applies to classic ink pads. I continue to store my stampin spots, distress inks, and others upside down.

Stampin Up have an excellent storage system for classic ink pads. It holds 48 as well as the re-inkers. There is an extender kit also available should you have more that what the first tier can manage.

So if you feel in the mood to organise your space contact me to order one straight to your door :)

337: Product Review

Stampin Ups five petal punch is Fab. I use it to make my own flowers by cutting out several from pattern paper. Spritzing with water and connecting together with a brad.

I also like to use it to creat a window in small notecards like I have here in this little gift set.

The other wonderful thing about the punch is that it can save you a LOT of time. Many of the floral sets in the catalogue match perfectly with the punch so cutting out is a breeze and anything that saves time is a great friend of mine!!! Remember I didnt have the punch when I made these but now could easily fly through quite a few sets YAHOO!!

339: What's Scrapbooking

341: What's On The Web

No doubt you've heard me blabbing on about Tim Holtz at some stage on my Blog. I have been collecting a few of his products here and there over the last year or two in my fav colours - broken china, fire brick red and picket fence... yeah I know white isnt technically a colour... I have the few items scattered and housed in different storage containers but when I saw his storage case earlier this month I got excited and started saving for it.  I dont know that I am all that interested personally in the trinket and paper cases but the one that would fit all the inks, embossing, distressing, crackle...well different story ..LOL

Tuesday 24 January 2012

343: Tuesday Tip

Everytime I stamp or scrap I sponge and ink the edges of things. What I have found is that I end up with a container full of inked up sponges etc and have no clue as to what colour goes with what ink pad. I saw another demonstrator online who had used a storage drawer set up. She placed her sponges in well labelled drawers and could easily find the sponge to match.

The only problem I face is room. I use a small desk for work and hobby and I really cant afford the space to have lots of storage containers hanging around taking up space on what little room I have. I house my classic ink pads in a plastic crate which is shelved unless I am using them. So instead I have made use of a Tim Holtz tool. All the sponges connect to the ink tool via velcro so I went out and bought myself some dots and attached one to the back of the Ink pad. This way when I have finished inking I can just attach the sponge to the ink pad and I know where it is for next time.

With the sponges attached the ink pads dont sit perfectly but its a little price to pay in my individual case.

How do you organise your sponges etc??

ooops!

Just realised the Video How to didnt go live.. so if you checked by scroll down or select from post menu to the right. Sorry about that folks :)

345: Video How To

Hi readers!! :) Today's How To Video will show you how to make a lovely little card using those little tiny stamps that sometimes come with your stamp sets. In the past I probably would have looked over these and never given them any use at all but that view has changed with the look you can get by putting them all into an array !! I have a set of itty bitty snowflake stamps as well so am going to make up a set of wintery looking stamps using the same technique. Happy Viewing!!

350: Tuesday Tip

Last week I gave you some hints about Stampin Write Markers this week I am going to give you a simple tip for using these when stamping. One way to use them is to colour straight onto your stamp. This is particularly using if you want to stamp various colours all at once. I usually use Stampin Write markers on smaller stamps only because I am slow at colouring and I am sure the ink would all be dry before I finished LOL.

First decide on your stamp design and the Stampin Write colours you would like to use.
Begin colouring the sections of the stamp as desired

When done with the colouring stamp your image as you would normally.

352: Video How Too

353: What's Scrapbooking

Pink and Black were the colours of the day and the perfect backdrop for my ribbon diecut!! In case you were wondering I do all of my scrapbooking in 8x11. I used to be a 12x12 gal but the albums are so big they poke out of my bookcase so I made the switch and never looked back :)

Do you like to scrapbook or are you more of a cards person?

355: What's on the Web

Doing my usual surfing around for the Wednesday spot and came across a ripper of an idea created by Angel Dee an Independent Stampin up Demonstrator and member of the Angels Group. I love a bit of tongue in check naughtiness and Angel has created just that!! I can wait til I collect the extra punches and try these out myself!! I have a friend who would LOVE this!!! too friggin cute!!! You can find her blog HERE

357: Tuesday Tip

I absolutely love the Stampin Write Markers and use them all the time. The markers feature a fine tip for details and writing and a brush tip for wider colour applications. They are acid and xylene free water based dye ink markers. The markers are offered in all of Stampin Up's awesome colours so you can easily colour coordinate projects. There are lots of cool ways to use these markers however, I found out something quite interesting the other day that I thought I would share with you all this Tuesday Tip!

I never realised (I am blonde BTW) that at each end of the marker there is a line, one thin and one thick, to indicate the brush/tip side. I am constantly taking the end of the marker only to find I have the wrong one so this piece of information will come incredibly handy...DOH!! The other thing I learnt is that these markers are refillable so knowing that the life of the marker can be extended when verging on empty was a celebratory moment!! To refill you need a pair of tweezers and the corresponding ink refill (same that is used for the Stampin up ink pads) You gently pry out the nib and add a few drop into the tube of the marker and insert the nib back in.

The Stampin Write markers from the brights, subtles, regals and neutrals can be purchased separately for $5.75 each or as a colour set for $54.95 (10 Markers) Neutral is $43.95 (8 markers). The new incolour sets are $27.95 (5 markers).

358: Product Review

Ok confession coming... when I first saw all the owls appearing in layouts and cards I thought What the!!.... then they started to grow on me so much so that when I first saw this little fellow prior to becoming a demonstrator I just had to have him straight away! Once pieced together he make the most adorable little owl. As a handy tip I managed to get myself some adhesive back cardstock and this made it sooo simple to put him together and attach to a card or layout. BUT... the fun doesn't stop there with this fantastic punch with a bit of tweaking here and there you can create all sorts of combinations. Here are a few that I cased and modified for my own personal use. If you would like to purchase the punch you can do so through me and I can have it delivered straight to your door!!

I love my little doggie!!!!
What combination have you come up with?? Share your link :)

Artastic Challenge

I feel like I used to have all the time in the world to participate in online challenges so I am taking the opportunity to revisit some of those I love while I am on holidays and Artastic is one of them. When I saw the painting this layout instantly came to me. I did create it digitally and very happy with the result. I can just print (as it is in A4) and add to my album :) happy days. Here is my layout "guitar" for this months Jan challenge. I was inspired by the colours and the olden day feel of the painting along with the instruments.

360: What's Scrapbooking

I am generally going to make something on Technique Friday and then 'show off' a scrapbooking page that uses the technique/creation. I have been on about trying to get pages finished and this is just the motivation I need to get a 2012 album finished!  I have used the handmade rosettes on this layout on two of the rosettes.  I was lucky enough to have a go at the new Creative Memories cutting system when a good friend came over to visit. I journal on all my pages and this is often hidden. In this case there is a tag that slides in behind the photo.

There are so many talented people around the world!! I just love browsing for new ideas and inspiration. I found these adorable little pyramid boxes created by Kate Pullen. There is a link to instructions and a downloadable template to create the boxes which can be found HERE but I have also included the pics below. They would make great party favours, or after dinner treats boxes at a dinner party!
