12 Days of Christmas Day 7 - Project Life Page

This was a little different and I know pass this challenge onto you. I used only the "mess" on my desk to create this album page! Can you do the same? Todays video isn't much of a how to but rather a quick look at how I put it all together.
I haven't been doing anyy project life, which is basically scrapbooking using different pocket protectors. I had been creating A4 sized pages as I find these easier to store in the smaller albums but I still have some of the bigger ones to fill. Hope you enjoy and come back to see what's in store tomorrow :)

12 Days of Christmas Day 5- Christmas Apron

Only two and a bit weeks left until Christmas. I thought .. like always there was plenty of time but Nup its flying by and I cant seem to get a grip on it all!! Everytime I open an email or look online there is something else interesting to create or cook! speaking of cooking... (great Segway don't cha think LOL) this little project is creating a little crafty apron that can have recipe cards slotted in the pocket allowing you to share your favourites with friends and colleagues for the holiday season. I hope you enjoy this one as it is a little different ;) I have also included a google doc link to the template to make this job a little easier.

12 Days of Christmas- Day 2 - Wine Topper

Well who doesn't like drinking a nice crisp cold bottle of wine... with friends of course but hey if the situation calls for it .. on your own LOL. Wine is one of the best (in my opinion) and easiest presents to buy someone but rather than just stick it into one of those gift bags add a little something that you made as well!
Today I have created a wine topper. I did use a diecut for the topper but you could easily create one by cutting a rectangle and punching a circle in top! I just go the lazy and quick option!
These are so much fun to make. Rather like cards quick, great for smaller  and left over supplies, I could chug these out by the dozen.. or maybe that's chug my wine... LOL

Supplies
  • whisper white card stock
  • simply stars stamp set
  • real red ink
  • clear embossing powder and versamark ink
  • wine topper diecut
  • white ribbon
If you need to ask me questions please do so in the comments box I am happy to answer.

Luminary Christmas

I went shopping and came across a luminary (luminaire) die cut by Sizzix Alterations and just had to have it. I did up a little video on how it all goes together. There are so many possibilities for this die.. imagine what you can do with your stampin up supplies!! So I have included a few pictures below the video to show you want other people in the world wide web have managed to create with this wonderful die.

Catch up

Hi everyone... madness central here. Don't know what it is like in your neck of the woods but wowzers busy busy. How is this for a nice card
I found it on the My Favourite Things blog and I am going to have a go at using the Stampin up Lovely as a Tree set to create a similar one. The glimmer paper will look awesome along the front.
I like to use the sponging technique in card designs. The person who (in my opinion) is simple the best at it is Michelle Zindorf I have learnt so much from her tutorials and enjoy seeing all the projects she creates and highlight on her blog.

My husband has left me alone today and I am getting very distracted on the internet. I have managed to put together a project. Not wholly Stampin up I might add but items that could be used to enhance the Stampin up products I have. I have a new video that I am currently editing and hope to upload later so stay tuned.

Gift Bow Bigz L Die & Big Shot Machine

I bought the set of these already pre-cut and just needing some assembly but think I may splurge sometime in the future. I could use these big bows for so many things. Obviously the most common would be on presents. But what about garlands, wreaths, disposable bonnets for dress-ups, on cards, to embellish a paper bag or attach to the back of chairs for special events!! These were just some if the ideas poking around in my head and its only early in the morning!!! LOL

You can order this beauty in the catalogue. You would also need a big shot machine. These machines are simply awesome. I procrasticated about buying one for ages and finally did after I went to a workshop and haven't looked back. I used it just about everytime I scrapbook or make cards.

The Big shot is a machine that allows you to sandwich paper and cutting die between two plastic sheets and roll through the machine which applies the cutting pressure. They are expensive but you could use hostess dollars or half price options at one of your workshops to bring the cost down significantly.

If you have never seen one in action here is a how to video.

Where to find in the catalogue?
Gift Bow BigzL die - Seasonal Catalogue 129977 AUD $55.95
Big Shot Machine - Annual Catalogue 113439 AUD $149.95

Magnetic Platform and Thinlit Dies

Hi everyone just a few quick Internet shares before I hit the hay and get ready for another working day. Really looking forward to the weekend to play with a few new product that came in the mail this week. One of these included the star stamp set and I am waiting on the envelop maker which by the way will be available for you to order 29 th October so if you want one let me know ASAP :)

The other great product coming out is the flip card dies. There is a circle and a label one and they make an easy job of cards with a difference.

Another Great Wreath

Well I really liked the wreath I made the other day but this one is simply awesome too! its fun watching all the techniques that people try. Would love to try this one out as my plan is to have a blue/ silver themed Christmas this year and it looks fantastic.

Got distracted this afternoon browsing the web and found another couple of cute projects to try. The owl punch is an absolute favourite from the stampin up catalogue and I love these little gift packets from starlightstamper.com so cute.

These little butterfly cards are really cute too. from stampingconnection.com

Happy Crafting :)

Christmas Wreath Project

I was at the craft shop one day and I bought about 5 foam wreaths and a shirtload of pins with the intention to create wreaths for everyone! Throwing them like Frisbees at my friends as gifts to bring joyful Christmassy goodness to the season. Needless to say they ended up in my cupboard until.... drum roll...... I saw a you tube video from stampinwithtami on how to make paper wreaths... well I was set......
Yep what a sinch!
Gathered all  my materials and got started.
Mmm hangon
This is beginning to look like a dogs breakfast.......

Indeedy doo I got about a quarter in then realised I would have to dismantle this baby and give it another go. In the end this is my finished project.
However I am going to share my tips with you should you wish to make the same journey without peril and a mouth like a sailor.

1. Invest in a quilling tool. This will enable you to keep skin on your fingers. I've heard the lyrics "play til your fingers bleed" whatever you do don't "craft til your fingers resemble a fried lobster!" They wont set you back more than a few dollars.

2. Curl from both ends to meet in the middle. That way you can from the middle without having to unroll. I like this tightly rolled Shirley Temple look reminded me of my nana after a perm job.

3. Layer two together as a cross. I also highly recommend the use of a small amount of glue on the underside before pinning as well. I was having a lot of trouble with the pins coming out as I made my way around the wreath and this made sure that everything stayed where it flippin well should of.

4. I started in the middle of the wreath,. Went all the way around in a circle then began another row until I filled it all in. I ended up only using three double sided pieces of 12x12 cardstock that I had cut into 1cm strips. This is a smaller decofoam shape the size being 200mm (30mm thick).

And there you have it... finally a project in completion... until I finish the others of course LOL

I have also included the video where I got the idea from below

Shadow Box Card Tutorial

I have always loved the look of these shadow box cards and finally got around to making one. I used some of the new Christmas papers from Stampin up and some ready made embellishments from the Kaiser range. It also gave me the opportunity to use one of the little glass bottles that I got from the reject shop last time I visited with the intention to make something with them.. and low and behold I have !! LOL

I have created a little how to video on how to go about constructing the base for this type of card. I have also included link to a PDF where you can print and store the instructions for how to make it if you are like me and its a bit of time before you "finally get around to it" :)

If this is something that you might like me to demonstrate at a class hosted by you contact me :)

Stampin up Magnetic Platform

These platforms are available to order now in Australia so if you want one visit my online store or let me know ASAP because they sold out pretty fast during the first release. There is a bit of an important health warning spoken about in the video below by stamper dog. An awareness warning about the strength of the magnet. Its super strong but not in the "mystery men" superhero magnet sense LOL!!

The best thing is that you can store those postit notes now. You no longer have to use them to hold the dies in place as you run them through the machine. They will stay in place!!

Homemade Washi Tape Tutorial

The idea of this sounds like a lot of fun and you could spruce up tape to match colours and favourite designs. Definitely food for thought :)

Coughs and Sneezes

Well it is a bit of a miserable day at home for me. Aches and pains. Sneezing and coughing. YUK so what is one to do whilst wasting the day away in bed feeling sorry for herself well.... Troll the Internet on the ipad. First facebook... Then a few other blogs... Followed by a good hour looking through pinterest!! So I am planning on sharing some of the things that I found were pretty cool today.

Firstly a really cool little envelope idea. I could see making these to include in a project life album or scrapbook page to hold a small memento. Would probably glue two sides together and use two little brads and some linen thread as a closure though so it wasn't too bulky and a nuisance to open and close.

aphotoplace.blogspot.com

Storage ideas are always on my think list. I currently have all like items in boxes but it still involves some digging around to find what I am looking for. I have a small home with not many storage areas so all my stuff is in two built ins and I am have to move things to find things... I long for the day when I don't have to do that!

This first idea uses those old glad wrap and aluminium boxes as a repurposed Washi tape dispenser. I like this because you can see all the tapes at a glance and the cutting teeth is an added bonus. I can also see in the picture that the boxes have been decorated as well which is pretty cool.

craftaholicsanonymous.net

Die storage is another issue for me. The Stampin up ones are fine as I keep them in the plastic envelope they come in but I have heaps of other dies that I keep in an old VHS box. Again I am digging around to find them and each time you can always here me exclaim "oh wow I forgot I had that" hence its time to think of other options. This folder idea looks pretty good so long as they cant slip out and that they are easily accessible. I like in this example how they are viewable. Sourcing the materials might be an issue but I do like the idea.

shellypop.com

A small DVD box for embossing folder storage is a top idea. I noticed this has an accompanying booklet with examples. I would probably just emboss smaller 3x3 pieces and add a jump ring to keep them together and have it tucked in the front of the box .. although..... the booklet would also easily fit as well. This booklet is binded so adding more papers might be an issue. I love the numbering system for easy locating and the decorated box looks lovely. If you look in the background the embossed folder is also numbered for easy packup.

splitcoaststampers.com

Now this is an awesome idea for your punches. I have actually done this with mine. I cut out cardstock, punched and labelled and then laminated them all. I keep them together by hole punching in one corner and added a split ring. This easily allows me to see the punches I have but better still when I stamp an image that I want punched I can lay the laminate card over the top to gauge the size and the punch I need to use. So if you have a bit of time to spare I recommend doing this one. I keep mine in the box with the punches for easy access.

organizedstamping.com

Finally just a quick share of a video. I think I am going to make a few of these up as tree decorations this year in a blue and white theme. I can fill the milk cartons with goodies and use them as gifts.

Tape It Stamps

Good morning all on this lovely Saturday morning! We have a mix of seasons today here in Hobart. Rain, cloud, filters of some sunshine and chilly breeze. A great day to enjoy the scenery from indoors while getting out those stamps still in packaging and give them a good whirl!

Its so hard to keep going into my spare room to undertake work related matters while surrounded by all the things you love and then be so tired when it comes to the weekend you have to push yourself to have some fun !

I have a few sets to play with but would like to highlight this one this week its called tape it.

Wood mount 130712 $46.95 and Clear Mount 130715 $36.95

Clearly a big investment in terms of money spend as it is up there a the top end of price within the catalogue. However, I think you can get a LOT of use out of this one. Washi Tape is all the rage at the moment. It comes in a variety of styles textures and colours. Using your existing stamp pads you have the colours required to match your projects. So with 8 different stamps and 10 colours in your stash you already have 80 different stamps!!

Personally I haven't really got into the whole Washi tape thing ....Yet.

In actual fact I always seem to catch onto things at the last minute after the latest cratest craze has passed and the crowds are clearing ....so lately...when I look at the Washi Tape I think.. What on Earth Will I DO With This Stuff!! and then I thank chocolate that there is the internet and google and search for some inspiration. Hopefully my little collection of searches and pictures will provide you with some too and help you to see the benefits of this stamp set as a must have addition to your collection.
Where possible I have included photos with watermarks that indicate the original creator of the projects.

Scrapbooking pages your thing?? Just a couple of pages I adored within my searches.

Pinterest is another great source of ideas. If you are a crafter and haven't yet joined this social network you are bat crazy!! its awesome!! 100 ways to washi can be found at anightowlblog.com

12 days 12 ways of Washi Tape
Day 11 pressed clay moulds ( used search tool on her blog for more days and ideas)

And just a couple more pictures for some added inspiration.

By checking out the different ways that washi tape can be used you get a lot of ideas for what to do with your stamped images. So don't forget to check out you tube as well!! Happy Saturday :)
